The Field Monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of humanitarian projects by providing on-the-ground monitoring, data collection, and reporting. They are responsible for assessing the needs of affected populations, monitoring project activities, and ensuring compliance with humanitarian standards and principles. The Field Monitor also acts as a liaison between the implementing organization, local communities, and other stakeholders, facilitating communication and coordination

 

Planning & Assistance Delivery

 

Support and participate in the needs assessment at the district level

Identify priority areas for intervention and recommend appropriate response strategies

Participate in the registration of beneficiaries using the LMMS platform

Prepare distribution & logistic plans, and oversee delivery assistance.

Communicate with the officials of the target facilities to ensure presence during the delivery as well as obtain acknowledgment of receipt.

Prepare Call Forward of the materials to be distributed and timely distribution of the relief materials to the target locations

Support in the design, implementation, and review of humanitarian in the communities

 

 

Documentation & Reporting

 

Prepare timely and accurate reports on field observations, monitoring findings, and project progress.

Ensure proper documentation trail from the point of dispatch at the facility. Item quantities to be based on the approved logistic and distribution plans

Demonstrate a high level of integrity and accountability in the distribution process in compliance to WVI, donor and other international standards in handling assistance.

Review and invoices for transporters for accuracy to ensure speedy payment.

Generate distribution weekly/monthly and on demand reports to the supervisor/project coordinator.

Document best practices, lessons learned, and challenges encountered during implementation.

Monitoring/Site inspection

 

Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor progress, assess impact, and identify challenges

Support research/studies on sector related topics.

Review data collection tools and participate in conducting research/studies to generate lessons learnt for improved humanitarian intervention.

Support and monitor partner organization operations to ensure compliance with the donor regulations

Consolidate and review monthly, and annual reports for timely submission.

Networking and improved relationships & Reporting

 

Coordinate with project staff, partners, government authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure a harmonized approach to humanitarian assistance.

Participate in key coordination meetings of implementing partners within the district/operational areas.

Build and maintain relationship with internal and external partners/stakeholders for enhanced collaboration and sustainability

Closely work with the partner and sub grantee organization to ensure timely service delivery.

Provide training and capacity building support to District Disaster Management Committee, Satellite Disaster Management Committees, and other community volunteer groups on monitoring techniques, humanitarian principles, and standards.

Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, leaders, and beneficiaries

Humanitarian Accountability

 

Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with humanitarian standards, guidelines, and donor requirements.

Monitor the quality and effectiveness of interventions and provide feedback to project staff and management.

Document concerns raised by the beneficiaries concerning the quality, and or quantity including the application of materials received.

Through the Project Coordinator provide the feedback to the raised concerns

Ensure accountability platforms are established and functional for the utilization by the project participants.

Facilitate community consultations and feedback mechanisms to ensure that project activities are responsive to community needs and preferences.

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

 

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training.

 

 

 

Educational level required: a Diploma/Degree in Environmental Health, Social Work, Accounting, Development Studies

At least 2-3 years of experience in humanitarian field monitoring, project management, or related fieldwork

Experience in food aid management and accounting or disaster management will be an added advantage.

Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and data analysis software is recommended.

Must have good analytical, writing, organizing and communications skills.
